Street Sweeping
Quick Links
When is street sweeping season?
On residential streets, Streets and Sanitation will begin street sweeping on April 1st and end in mid-November. Due to lack of resources, the Department is not able to consider requests to extend or add additional street sweeping dates. Some neighbors organize efforts for seasonal leaf clean-ups and remind neighbors on their blocks to move their cars during street sweeping days. We are happy to provide tips on how to organize similar efforts if you email info@aldermanmartin.com.
How is notice provided?
Streets and Sanitation posts orange paper no-parking signs on residential streets approximately two days in advance of street sweeping and is required to post these at least 24 hours in advance. These signs are removed after the sweeper has completed the area to open parking spots back up to the neighborhood.
Permanent street signs posted along commercial/arterial streets indicate the day(s) of the week and times (7AM-9AM) for street sweeping. Failure to move a vehicle from a posted no-parking zone may result in a $60 fine during street sweeping days.
