Street or Alley Light Out
If a street or alley light is out on your block, you can enter a request into 311 to ensure the department is aware of the issue. The department prioritizes issues where all of the street lights are out on one block. Our office also tries to monitor areas where this is consistently a problem for consideration of potential infrastructure upgrades. Chicago is currently implementing a street light modernization program, which has mostly been completed in the 47th ward, that in the future will automatically notify the department when street lights are out, so they can more quickly address issues.
Steps
Enter a request for a street or alley light out in 311. Be sure to note if all of the lights on the block are out or if it is a single light out.
If you need help submitting your request through 311’s online portal, view our help article on submitting service requests.
