How do Sidewalk Repairs Work
As an initial step, we recommend that you place a request with 3-1-1 to repair your sidewalk. The Department of Transportation prioritizes requests that may violate the ADA or pose dangerous conditions, like a sidewalk that is uneven by many inches.
If they’re not able to make the repair, you can request our office set aside local infrastructure funds to replace deteriorated sidewalks. While these funds never go as far as we would like, we want to know which priorities are most important to you and your neighbors. If we are not able to fund all identified projects this year, we will consider them for the following year.
Finally, you may consider participating in the Shared Cost Sidewalk Program. The Shared Cost Sidewalk Program is an extremely popular voluntary program in which property owners share the cost of sidewalk repair with the City.
