How do Pothole Repairs Work?
If you notice a pothole in your street or alley, you can submit a request for the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) to patch the pothole. CDOT will prioritize filling street potholes before alley potholes. It typically takes about a month for CDOT to fulfill these requests. If you notice a growing hole in the street that looks like a sinkhole, you may have identified a sewer cave-in which would be directed to a different department. Sewer cave-ins typically develop near sewer grates.
