Grocery Assistance

If you need assistance with groceries, you may be eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This is a federal program administered by the State of Illinois. While the city plays a limited role in its implementation, we are happy to help connect you with social services agencies that can best help you navigate the program and answer any questions. Additionally, you may be interested in connecting with one or more of our local food pantries.

Grocery Assistance

If you are in need of grocery assistance, there are multiple resources that may be of help to you including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and local food pantries. If you are eligible for SNAP, the benefits will be deposited onto your Electronic Benefit Transfer card every month. This card functions like a debit card and can be used to purchase groceries at nearly all establishments that sell groceries, including many farmers markets. If you are concerned about a grocery establishment or farmer’s market not accepting SNAP, or need additional assistance, please email us at info@aldermanmartin.com.
