Christmas Tree Recycling

How does tree recycling work?

The City of Chicago works with the Chicago Park District to provide Christmas tree recycling locations each year. Typically, Clark Park (3400 N Rockwell) is a recycling location within the ward. Only live trees are accepted. Because the trees are turned into mulch, all tinsel, ornaments, lights, and stands must be removed.

The program runs for two weeks in early January where you can drop trees off at no charge. At a few drop off locations, you can even receive mulch back for your garden.
