Requesting response to Non-violent Mental Health Crisis
Chicago offers multiple responses to non-violent mental health crises, includes CARE Teams. In the 47th Ward south of Lawrence, you can call 9-1-1 to report a non-violent, mental health related incident. The dispatcher is trained to direct calls to the mental crisis team as appropriate, though the team may not always be available when you call.
Alternatively, you can call 9-8-8 to request a mobile crisis team, or you can call Lutheran Social Services (833-610-5774) or Thresholds Mobile Crisis (773-572-5464) teams directly. Both organizations operate local mobile crisis response teams that can send trained social workers to non-violent, mental health crises. If there is a medical crisis (i.e. serious injury) or weapon, please call 9-1-1.
